I don't usually answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, but this time a voicemail message was left, so I called the number back. He actually answered and proceeded to tell me the same threatening message. I spoke to him for approximately 5-10 minutes. I immediately thought it was a scam and bated him by asking how I can take care of this problem of owing back taxes right away. He said, which I thought was strange, that there was nothing I could do at this point and that an officer would show up at my place of residence within 45 minutes with paperwork and with a warrant for my arrest. I thought for sure he would ask for a credit card or banking information, but he didn't. Finally, he ended the call and hung up on me. Earlier in the conversation when he mentioned that two letters had previously been sent to me, I asked him to what address and he gave me my correct address. Then he said my Husband's name as the person who signed for the letters. Kind of strange that he didn't try to get money from me on the phone. I'm feeling a little uneasy as he had my correct address and knew my Husband's name." The call is complete BS. The IRS does NOT CALL people The IRS sends Certified Letters, and several of them, then they follow up with more letters. They will never ask you for money over the phone or to call them back from a pre-recorded call. This call is a pure SCAM." CALLER ID: 518-800-8376
